Tips on Buying Your Electronic Drum Set
With ever improving technology and the rise of many great stores like EBay, you will be surprised how much instrument you can get for your money these days, and if you are looking to purchase an electronic drum kit, you will be pleased to find what value you can get for your money.
The electronic drum kit really is an ideal product for the budding beginner drummer. Not only will it prove far more cost effective, but you will be refrained from the excessive noise that emanates from your room, when you and your beloved drum kit are first paired. As much as you may enjoy (or be frustrated) with those beginner days, I assure you, the people that have to put up with the racket as a result of your education will be far more unimpressed with your efforts. Don’t expect your electronic drum kit to sound and feel like a full acoustic kit, as it simply won’t. Higher end models use different techniques to produce more of an authentic feel, but the main reason for a digital drum kit would be to begin learning and preparing yourself for drums, or to assist in digital recording, in which case, you will be looking to buy a specialist drum kit for your recording needs.
The Alesis DM5 Pro is an old model, but it has stood the test of time, and is a great kit to begin playing with, and is quite affordable, ranging from £300 to £400. This is for a full digital drum kit. If you’re not looking to spend hundreds of pounds, consider the Yamaha DD55 or DD65. Both of these drum kits come in one complete pad and are very inexpensive, averaging around £60 online sites. These really are great for kids, or for people with a small budget who long for the opportunity to see if they have the rhythm for drums.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and get advice when buying your drum kit, especially if you are a beginner. It can be a little unnerving, entering a specialised store and asking basic questions, but without the right information, you won’t be fully prepared, and you’ll be more likely to give up playing because the instrument isn’t quite for you. It’s a personal purchase, so it’s important to get it right.
