I think this is not really a problem with a single sport, and I do not think NASCAR or golf are exceptions either. I do not think it's because football is particularly violent, there are plenty of violent sports. What I think the problem is, is that athletes are paid huge sums of money and sometimes their origin / Environment / capacity does not prepare them to cope with fame and wealth, and they make bad decisions, sometimes the endless type of career. Another thing to consider is the ego: some athletes seem to think they are irreplaceable and indispensable, and they are above the law and common sense. Good as they may be, nobody is that important, especially in team sports. In any case I generalize, there are many examples of studies of professional athletes from different backgrounds who carry themselves as role models they are for children and senior members of society, then I think it's a personal question: some people are better equipped to deal with these things than others. Therefore, you see people hurt decisions and they get a lot of coverage.
