black stain for wood furniture?
I bought 2 bedside chest of draws large numbers, they are colored in red, I want to finish their in a very dark stain, maybe black, I remember vaguely know about a black spot, but do not remember the name, Black Jap?? rings a bell … any help would be very appreciated. PS, they are solid wood … how rubbing back I need to do?
The spot is called "ebony". I think mimosa Carbots and Dulux do. Find furniture, a floor space of your local hardware as Bunnings, Kmart or miter 10. But this does not change the color wood, it does not give a finish. You'll still need to give it a layer of estapol after the stain has been applied and rubbed off. If its in good condition, enough you will not need much sanding. Moreover, it depends if you mind the stain red crosses and making ebony slightly darker If you do not mind a red tint to black and then just give it a light sanding (with super fine grain sandpaper 220-240) estapol to take off. If you do not want it contaminated by the red you must use a slightly courser sanding paper (Extra Fine 280-320) for estapol and remove most of the previous spot. And then finish with a super thin (360-600 +) of sand paper, then stain ebony and then leave coat with dry estapol. Just a note some people use estapol stains and all, it's easier to sand and needs only a light sanding (with extra fine sandpaper 280-320). Tip estapol combining spot and can make the disorder and can scramble estapol finish so you can not see the wood grain under and Neath. Good luck
