Meet playwright Tom Anselmo

 

Tom Anselmo is the co-author of the textbook, Thinking and Writing in College, and is the author of educational games and multiple articles. Tom also served as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, helping their staff develop editorial skills.

Tom was a professor of English composition at NYC Tech at CUNY (City University of New York) until his retirement in 1992. Since then, he has been writing full-time. Tom and his wife Leslie reside in New York City.

An unstaged reading of Penny was performed at the Readers Theatre in Monclair, New Jersey.

Tom grew up on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan. He attended Stuyvesant High School and then enlisted in the army at the age of 18. Stationed with him was travel author, Arthur Frommer, among other college-educated draftees. Frommer would assign reading for Tom, from Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead to Tolstoy’s War and Peace – and was an early mentor to his life-long interest in literature. When he returned to NY, he attended the City College of New York, served as a Junior High School teacher in Queens, New York, prior to joining the faculty at NYC Tech.
